Student writing thank you cardAfter celebrating Veteran’s Day, the third graders at Flickinger wanted to do a little more to recognize those in the military.

The Ty Bentli Show on 93.1 Nash FM provided the perfect opportunity with their quest to gather 100, 000 thank-yous for troops overseas.

The students designed patriotic cards in art. Then, each student composed a heartfelt, hand-written letter of appreciation.

“I felt happy that I could write a letter to a brave soldier that has been fighting for freedom,” said student Donny Ghattas.

The goal of this program is to have letters to send throughout the year to soldiers who are away from their families. T

hird grader, Brooklynn Daubenmeyer, states, “I am thankful that we could make a card to cheer up a soldier’s day."

150,000 thank-yous were collected from all over the country and Flickinger third graders are proud to be a part of thanking our well-deserving military men and women.
