As
part of their science and social studies, Flickinger second graders created
relief maps displaying Earth's landforms. After reading about landforms,
erosion, and weathering on TCI and our Science Techbook on Discovery Education,
this hands-on experience gave students the opportunity to apply their
knowledge.
"I
really liked molding the playdough into landforms. I made an older more
rounded mountain," stated Ana Resin.
"I
liked painting the lava on the volcano because we're reading the Magic Tree
House book Vacation Under the Volcano in class," added Isai Mudura.
Due
to the generosity of the Flickinger Parent Group, each second grader received
their own copy of the chapter book Vacation Under the Volcano by Mary
Pope Osborne. Students and teachers alike, were excited to make
meaningful connections between technology, reading, writing, science, and
social studies.
